When talking to a prospect on the phone, one of the most effective sales techniques I've used is to ask them to open a browser, and then proceed to show them projects that are relevant to their interests and needs. "If you have a browser open, I want to show you a few things on our website. Go to www.marketingvalet.com, and click on the first link under Recent Projects. This is a Flash demo we did for Verizon Wireless." In most cases, this opens up a meaningful conversation. I then proceed to talk about how we helped Verizon Wireless produce this demo from beginning to end. I also ask a lot of questions to narrow down their requirements.
